CATHCA held a vibrant and successful Conference which focussed on the “Grassroots Approach for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases – Leave No-one Behind” on 16 November 2023 at the Lumko Retreat Centre in Benoni.
Seventy three members attended from 24 different organizations mostly from Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Free State Provinces.
Fr Eduardo Gabriel, a Scalabrini Missionary priests opened the Conference with a prayer.
The acting Director for Non-Communicable Diseases at the National Department of Health, Mr Setlare, focused his speech on Overview of the National Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of NCDs (2022-2027),
Dr Manivasan Thandrayen, Project Medical Referent from MSF, highlighted the Burden of NCD’s in South Africa whereas Dr Vicki Pinkney-Atkinson, Director of SANCDA+ and Mrs Albina Kekana focused on Lived experiences on behalf of NCD sufferers.
